IBKR Reconciliation

If you use Interactive Brokers, FinPal can check its own numbers against your broker’s official activity statement with period-end summaries — cash, positions, and the walk from your starting to ending balance — so you’re not just trusting FinPal’s math, you can verify it.

This feature is in beta.

  • Cash — does FinPal’s cash balance match what IBKR reports?
  • Positions — do your holdings and quantities match?
  • The balance walk — does the path from your starting balance to your ending balance (trades, fees, dividends, transfers) match what your broker recorded?

If FinPal’s numbers and your broker’s statement don’t match, the reconciliation view shows exactly where the difference is and what’s likely causing it — rather than just flagging that “something is off.”

Reconciliation uses the period-end summaries captured when you import an IBKR activity statement. Export a monthly or annual activity statement with Net Asset Value, Cash Report and Open Positions sections; a trade-history-only export does not provide these comparisons. The captured broker figures are compared with your ledger for the same period end — see Statement Import.

A fully connected sync (rather than a one-time comparison) is on the roadmap — see the FAQ for what’s planned versus available today.

Some figures are shown as broker-reported only because FinPal cannot independently reproduce them from the available records. Differences can also reflect missing history, pricing or cost-basis methods. A match in one row does not certify the entire portfolio.
